FabFitFun Fall 2016 Unboxing

This is my 3rd box of the year and my favorite. The Spring and Summer boxes were okay this year, but the Fall box...Just amazing! I felt that this box was 100% worth every penny.

There is a very cool variety of items in the box. Some beauty, some body care items, even a scarf and toe sock! A really cute mug and a fun mini coloring book with color pencils. All fun usable things that are on trend.

I love that this box includes full size products so that we can really try everything out.
I've had the box a few days so I was able to try more than a few of the items. The very first item I tried were the toe socks. I pulled them right out of the box and put them on. I'm actually wearing them now as I type this post. They are really comfortable, more than I expected

The mug is especially cute. I posted a photo on my bookshelf on my Instagram page, feel free to take a peek. While it's very nice, love the black and gold, I was slightly disappointing that it was hand wash only plus it didn't keep my drink warm for very long. It's really more of a decorative travel mug rather than functional. There isn't even a plug or cover for the mouth part of the mug. Tip that over and coffee, tea, or whatever your choice of beverage is is leaking everywhere.

The next day was a work day, so I decided to try out a few of the bath, body, and makeup items. First up is the Spongelle Beyond Cleansing Body Wash Infused Body Buffers. I must admit the scent that I got, Bulgarian Rose, is nice but I don't love floral. I like how it lathered up and how the body buffer exfoliated, so I'll be purchasing this in another fragrance once I've used this one. The instructions say that you can get up to 14 uses out of it, so far I've used it all week and I can tell there is a ton of soap still inside, so I suspect that is accurate.

The next items I tried were the Secret deodorant and the brow gel. Both excellent products. The brow gel is a full sized product.  It was right on time and worked like a charm. It held in place the tiny hairs that just want to stick right up even when they are shaped nicely and trimmed.  The Secret deodorant is travel size, but perfect to throw in a carry on luggage or your gym bag. I liked that it went on clear and stayed clear all day. The smell was nice as well.

Toe socks anyone?! Yes, please! I've never tried toe socks before, but I'm loving them. I'll be getting more of these. They have grips on the bottom so you don't slid around hardwood floors and still manage to keep your feel warm even when your toes are out. Who would have though?

The coloring book and color pencils were a fun addition. I recently did a coloring book review on my YouTube channel, and I really enjoyed it, so I'll be using these for sure.

I don't use makeup often, so I'll be giving the pallet away as a gift. It's full size and the colors inside are just beautiful.

I wasn't able to try the Night Serum or the Body Oil yet, but I'm looking forward it. I'm sure they are awesome products.

I 100% feel that this Fall box was worth the subscription price.  You really got your money's worth with quality products. Want to try out Fab Fit Fun? Click here to sign up!

Review: Cover Girl Bombshell Curvaceous Mascara

Hey friends,

I'm back with another review from my SurfsUp Vox Box from Influenster. I don't wear much makeup, only on special occasions. Clearly I don't wear enough mascara to test this myself and consider it against mascara brands, so I enlisted someone who can. My Mom! My Mom is a frequent makeup wearer and she has experience with lots of brands and types of mascara.  She's had a few favorites over the years, so she was excited to try the Cover Girl Bombshell Curvaceous Mascara by lashblast!

I had my mother try on the mascara on eyes without any eye make-up so that we could see the mascara on its own. Photo 1 has no mascara. Photos 2 and 3 are with the mascara. Even without other makeup, clearly the lashes have much more volume after applying the mascara.  Of course when she added her eye liner and shadow, the mascara popped even more!

I sent her home with the mascara so that she could report back with her findings after wearing it a few times. Here's the run down according to Mom:

Likes:

  • Long wear. Didn't smear or run.
  • The volume is really noticeable.
  • Simple instructions to follow and was easy to apply.
  • For $11.99 at most retailers, it's a great mascara for the price.

Dislikes:

  • Needing to use an oil based makeup remover to get the mascara off. She normally uses oil-free makeup remover, so she needed to go out and purchase a remover just to get this mascara off.
  • Needing to use several coats of step 2.

Final thoughts: According to Mom, she plans on buying this product after she uses up the rest of the bottle. With those results we both think this would be a good product to try.

Nail Art | Color Luv

Just a quick shot of my nail color from Thursday. Orly Glow with a OPI Liquid Sand accent nail. A fun summer look! My nail tech chose the colors. I would have never thought to put these two together, but I like it!! And yes...I was eating Mentos!

Nail Art | Accent Nail Cuteness!

I got my nails done this past Thursday. I don't always show my nails, but since I just loved this accent nail so much, that I wanted to share! Of course with a new pink & white set, I always want to show that off, but it's fun to have a little bling with it! So cute, I love it!

Caviar Nail Art

My shellac post was pretty popular,  so I figured I'd talk a little about Caviar too.   I tried Caviar nail art for the first time last week.  I love it.  My nail tech has been doing it on her other clients for a few months now,  I finally got the chance to try it. It's cute and different, it's a fun design accent. There is one down side,  the tiny balls do come off once in a while.  Don't worry,  you won't really notice unless your scrutinizing your nails daily like I do. Check it out!

Shellac...Gel-lac...this stuff rocks!

I’ve been wearing acrylic on my nails since I was old enough to pay for them, I believe I was 17 when I started getting them done regularly. Two weeks ago I wanted to give my nail beds a break. In the past, when letting my nails rest, I’ve never gone without the acrylic for more than a few days. With this product I’ve gone 2 weeks! The application is supposed to last for 2 weeks without breaking or chipping. As advertised, I did in fact go 2 weeks without my nails breaking or chipping, I probably could have gone 3 weeks. Instead of getting the acrylic back on, I decided to do another application and go 2 more weeks.

I like this Shellac/Gel-lac product and because I’m excited about it, I’m going to tell you what I found out about it. I promise, I’m not advertising! This info is for your own FYI, in case you want to check it out. My nail tech introduced me to this product called Shellac or Gel-lac (depending on the manufacturer). Since I wasn’t familiar and it was out of my acrylic comfort zone, I Googled it before I took the plunge. The product is supposed to have the durability of gels, but is applied like nail polish with lacquer colors. My nails actually feel pretty strong! You ladies that wear acrylic know what I mean. Once you take off the acrylic, usually your nails are really soft and break very easily. While I was searching the net about this product, I also found that they have pink and white colors available…so I may be able to retain my French manicure look after all! Woohoo!

It’s like a gel with nail polish color and application. Your nail tech will brush on the substance just like nail polish. Your hands sit under a light for about 1 minute between each coat. There is a base coat, two color coats, then a top coat. The light hardens the gel substance. No sitting while your nails dry for 40 minutes...bonus! I’m so used to regular polish, I thought it was crazy when I was done I got up and left…no worrying that I’ll smug a nail. Very cool. I may even try it on my toes!

You have to soak the nails in pure acetone to remove it (just like acrylic), but it only took 10 minutes to soak off, versus 30 minutes or more to soak off acrylic. My nail tech charges me the same price as a acrylic fill in ($25), which I usually get every 2 weeks anyways. Plus I’m actually saving money by not having to get a fresh acrylic overlay every 6-8 weeks, which is almost double the cost of the fill in.

Here is a picture of my second Gel-lac application, which got done yesterday. I'm loving the pewter grey color!
